Life Dissatisfaction

Life Dissatisfaction

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, scary, or exhausting. Even if you’re not feeling distressed, you may feel like something is missing or feel generally unhappy about life. Life dissatisfaction can be described as a feeling of restlessness, yearning, or wishing for something, even when we may not know what this “something” is. Life dissatisfaction may be caused by many situations but is often related to how we define ourselves and how we define success or happiness. Life dissatisfaction can affect our lives in many ways including our social lives, our intimate relationships, or our work performance.

Life dissatisfaction may occur during the course of other mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, or obsessive-compulsive disorders, or  may occur on its own.

How is Life Dissatisfaction treated?

Life dissatisfaction can be addressed through psychotherapy or talk therapy. More specifically, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help to address thoughts related to life dissatisfaction, sadness, our identity, or how we define success or happiness.
